Joe Biden and Barack OBama

Well, the **breaking news** item said it all:

"Sen. McCain Reaches Out to Gay Voters"

Don't get me wrong; I'm glad the Republican nominee has finally gotten to the place Democrats have been to for decades--talking to and reaching out to a significant portion of the electorate on basic issues of fairness and equality.

But don't be fooled by an emailed interview.

For all his talk about not being the type of candidate to "phone it in" he didn't even have the courtesy to do a phone interview with the LGBT press--let alone an actual sit-down interview like Obama has done on multiple occasions.

A lot of news has been floating around as of late about the McCain/Palin (or is that the Palin/McCain) ticket calling them "inclusive Republicans."  I'm saddened that the bar for that title has fallen so low.

Over the last two days, Stonewall Democrats and other organizations have been trying to keep the real anti-equality record of the Republicans in the spotlight as McCain takes us all on board of the "Spin Talk Express."

Check out this answer in the Washington Blade interview:

Blade: Important gay rights legislation unrelated to marriage has been stalled in Congress for some time. You have a reputation for having challenged your party in the past. Would you work with Congress to pass or deal with any of the following: ENDA, the hate crimes bill, repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell?”

McCain: I promise to give full consideration to any legislation that reaches my desk. On “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” I’m going to defer to our military commanders. So far they have told me it’s working. I’m willing to have the policy reviewed to make sure that’s the case, but at the end of the day, I’m going to rely on the commanders who will be impacted by a change in the law.

Full consideration?  Think he'll consider anything different from his last votes on ENDA or hate crimes?

Think he'll consider NOT cutting a video against our equal rights like he did in 2006 in support of the anti-marriage amendment in Arizona?

And the interview just keeps getting worse on the spin meter.

And don't forget about Sarah Palin spreading right-wing talking points about sexual orientation being a "choice.

We've got a lot of work to do before the election, but we can't give into the McCain misinformation campaign.

Learn about the real Obama/Biden record of equality here.

We must demand more from Republicans.  McCain can do better and he should do better when trying to earn our vote.

That's what this Wall Street

That's what this Wall Street bailout should be titled. The panic on Wall Street is a direct result of bad lending practices. The bad lending practices are a direct result of deregulation in the home mortgage market. I'm a bit disgusted by the attitude being shown by these failing Companies top executives. They want quick passage of a 700 billion dollar bailout, paid by the taxpayers. Yet they're not willing to compromise on their own personal multi billion dollar retirement and severance packages. 352-001 Even though it was their bad policies that bankrupted their own Companies. They took their Company and stock shareholders over the edge of a cliff, and now expect to be rewarded for their mismanagement. These top executives knew these loans were extremely risky. But they just couldn't resist the temptation of the quick buck to be made. Pure Corporate greed.

Any taxpayer bailout needs strict oversight and specific terms. 642-971 Lack of oversight was at the core of what got us into this mess. Congress shouldn't be pressured by the White House to rush a quick, but possibly ineffective fix to this. The no oversight, no review, no challenging, no overturning in Court, part of Paulson's bailout plan is anti everything American. Was this a provision insertion from Cheney? I think I smell the foul stench of Deferment Dick in all this. This is the final step in the neo cons looting of the U.S. 000-331 Treasury. The debt from this bailout, the Iraq war, the tax breaks for the wealthiest... will now total over two trillion dollars! With the National debt exceeding 11 trillion dollars! Could even go much higher.
