Special thanks to Gary Van Horn & Delta Foundation for planning the trip & organizing the Pittsburgh contingent. Attendance from the Pittsburgh area was more than quadruple the attendance of our previous lobbying trip to Harrisburg.

The Harrisburg Rally and the following meetings with legislators and their staff were an important step towards passage of this statewide non-discrimination bill that include protections for both sexual orientation & gender identity/expression.

But much more work needs to be done.  If and win this bill passes in the Democratically controlled PA House it will still need to pass in the Republican controlled State Senate.

People should continue to contact their legislators in both the State House & State Senate & urge them to support HB 300

In the three weeks since a state House committee passed House Bill 300, legislation to end discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Pennsylvanians, there has been a flurry of activity at the state capitol, including our enormously successful Rock the Dome lobby day and rally, which drew several hundred people to Harrisburg. 70-284
Of course, opponents of equality are not sitting back. Opponents to this necessary legislation have been hammering the offices of state representatives with phone calls and emails. Most representatives have received nearly 1,000 emails from a vocal minority of Pennsylvanians. 642-072 Unfortunately, those who think LGBT Pennsylvanians should be second-class citizens have had some success. Numerous representatives have been intimidated by this vocal minority, including some co-sponsors who have removed their name from the bill. 1z0-050 It’s time for those of us who oppose discrimination to make our own voices heard. If we expect to win in this important struggle, we need you to take action!
